Collect in Oberau or Obersalzberg
For skiing at Rossfeld, Skischule Berchtesgaden is one specific rental option. It lists two branches: Oberau at the Alpinhotel, Roßfeldstraße 34, 83471 Berchtesgaden, and Obersalzberg at Salzbergstraße 33. These are not equivalent to a rental directly beside a Rossfeld lift. Decide where to collect according to your accommodation, actual lesson location and approach. When collecting in Oberau, allow extra time to continue to the slope that is open. A booking described only as Berchtesgaden is not precise enough for planning the day; explicitly confirm the actual meeting point before travelling.
Example prices with a season caveat
The rental page checked on 24 October 2026 lists skis with boots at €30 for one day, €75 for three days and €102 for five days. For children up to and including 14, the corresponding amounts are €20, €47 and €65. A helmet costs an extra €4 per day. The stated child and adult day offers therefore range from €20 to €30 without helmets. Crucially, the page still contains a reference to winter 2025/26. Treat these figures as guidance from the published table, not as confirmed 2026/27 prices, and request a current quote.
Check winter opening separately
For Oberau, the school publishes daily winter hours of 09:15–16:15 from mid-December to the end of March. For Obersalzberg, it lists 08:30–17:00 daily. That does not establish that either branch is open on the October research date. Ask about the actual season opening, available sizes and the latest return time for your visit. Oberau’s earlier closing time is particularly relevant on the final ski day. Also agree where the equipment must be returned. Longer opening at the other branch does not automatically permit a change of return location.
A family day on natural snow
The lift operator describes Rossfeld as a family ski area with natural snow and four drag lifts. For beginners, suitable instruction and actual lift operation matter alongside equipment. Ask about an appropriate meeting point and lift use with younger children. A lesson at Obersalzberg does not necessarily take place at Rossfeld. Fit boots carefully and check that helmet and goggles work well together. Give accurate experience, height and weight information. Plan breaks so that even tired children have enough time to finish skiing, continue to the rental shop and return equipment without rushing at the end of the day.
Arrival, parking and the final decision
The ski area is reached via the Rossfeld panoramic road. Before departure, check current road conditions and the lift operator’s snow report rather than relying solely on the date or an equipment reservation. The rental information examined here does not establish a verified current combination of road toll and parking charges; clarify those costs and the appropriate approach shortly before your trip. Use signposted parking and do not assume that equipment rental includes transport or lift access. For bus travel, the stop, onward route and return connection must match the access that is actually open. Keep ordinary shoes ready for the journey home.
